Mikayla Kelley

Mikayla Kelley became a Neubauer Family Assistant Professor in 2023 and is a faculty member in the Department of Philosophy.

Kelley works primarily in the philosophy of action and formal epistemology. Within philosophy of action, she uses analytical methods to examine issues in the metaphysics and epistemology of action such as the relationship between action and control, our capacity for mental agency, the nature of virtual action, and the role of action in ethical life. Within formal epistemology, she uses mathematical tools to study the requirements on rational belief. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Philosophical Studies, NoûsThe Philosophical QuarterlyPhilosophy of Science, and Synthese.

Kelley holds a PhD in philosophy from Stanford University, an MA in mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BA in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
