Allison Squires was named a Neubauer Family Assistant Professor in 2019. As a faculty member in the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering, her research interests center on understanding the heterogeneous physical properties and behavior of individual biomolecules and nanoparticles. The Squires Lab is a cross-disciplinary research group that develops novel experimental and analytical tools for precision measurement and control of single biomolecules and nanoparticles, and utilizes these techniques to answer basic and applied biochemical, biophysical, and biomedical questions at the nanoscale.
Prior to joining the University of Chicago, Squires trained as a postdoctoral scholar in Chemistry at Stanford University. She earned her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University as an NSF and Clare Booth Luce Fellow, and holds a BSE in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University.
